until 15 september platform 5 of the 11th documenta takes place in kassel. this year’s curator is the nigerian okwui enwezor. together with a large group of artists welcomed during the 100 days of the exhibition, presentations, concerts, performances, workshops, and film program he tried to give it a more insistently transnational, interdisciplinary and transgenerational shape. he wants to go further than the occidental borders.
that architecture can be art know the curators of documenta 11 too. so they invited the asymptote architects and yona friedman.
the virtual architects of asymptote created an installation that interacts with a flow of data and parameters. questioning reality and virtuality they expand the traditional fields of architecture. spaces change from the action and reaction of the users and its environment.
asymptote’s project is fluxspace 3.0/mscapes, one of a serie of three installations that begun in 2000. fluxspace 3.0 reacts with morphologic as well as acoustic changes. m(otion)scapes present the subject in a mutated hallway, which creates folds, spaces, and areas that make it possible to move back and forth between the physical self and virtual existence.
